HENRY provides a wide range of support for families from pregnancy to age 12 including workshops, programmes, resources and online help. All of our support for families is underpinned by the HENRY approach to supporting behaviour change which helps parents gain the confidence, knowledge and skills they need to help the whole family adopt a healthier, happier lifestyle and to give their children a great start in life.

Lending SPACE

Do you live in Hertfordshire?  Do you have a child or young person with additional needs?  SPACE Hertfordshire have a an equipment lending library for families living in Hertfordshire with children and young people with autism, ADHD, or other additional needs.  It offers an extensive range of specialist sensory, practical and educational equipment and resources for families to borrow. It’s an ideal way to try expensive equipment to see if it works for the needs of your child. 

The lending library is based in Hertford and is funded by Hertfordshire County Council.

Do you have a child with SEND or feel they may have additional needs?   Do you need a listening ear?  Do you need practical help or emotional support?  Do you live in Hertfordshire?

You can book a telephone appointment with one of our Family Support Workers to talk through your situation and get emotional and practical support.

Hertfordshire SENDIASS provides information, advice and support which is accurate and confidential in ways that is accessible for young people and parents. We aim to promote independence and self-advocacy to enable you to participate in making informed decisions. We can listen to your views and work with you to explore your options, help you to prepare for meetings and empower you to feel confident to express your views and participate in decisions.

Summer Reading Challenge 2021 - Wild World Heroes

Wild World Heroes, Summer Reading Challenge 2021 will launch in Hertfordshire libraries on Saturday 10 July, We are challenging this year’s young readers to join our Free Challenge and meet the six Wild World Heroes in the fictional town of ‘Wilderville’ solving the town’s environmental problems.

Children can read any six books, and our libraries have a ‘World Full’ of exciting books to read including eBooks and eAudioBooks on BorrowBox, so have fun and go ‘Wild’!

For every 2 books read, the children can collect a set of stickers. Using the Wilderville map  and clues, they can help the young heroes solve the environmental problems on their adventure through ‘Wildville’. So take a trip to your local Hertfordshire library and join the Wild World Heroes make their town a better place for the people and nature.

The Achieve Project - Transitions UK - for young people aged 16-21

The Achieve project offers a person-centred programme aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of young people with learning disabilities and special needs across Luton, Bedford and Stevenage!

If you’re looking for transition support for yourself or someone you know… This two year mentoring support project runs 50 weeks in the year and is aimed at helping young people aged 16-21 years to gain the confidence and skills they need to move towards independence and a positive place in the community. That’s especially about transition from school and college as well as into new opportunities. The programme provides support in a variety of ways such as weekly skill sessions, 1-2-1 mentoring, socialising, cooking, employer visits, travel training and more. Encouraging Positive Behaviour in Children with SEND

Tuesday 13th July 7.30- 9.30pm

This webinar will explore some of the issues around behaviour and will look at ways of supporting and encouraging your child. Participants will gain a better understanding of why children behave the way they do and learn ways to handle difficult situations in a calm, stress-free manner. Group discussions will explore what might help and how to get support and help.

Add-vance  - Tips and tools to teach social skills

Friday 2nd July 2021  10-11.30am

An online introductory workshop for parent/carers of children up to 18 years with a diagnosis (or suspected diagnosis) of ADHD and/or Autism

Learning outcomes:

  • To understand the link between social skills and behaviour
  • To understand how to identify gaps in your child’s social skills
  • To identify strategies that build social skills to fill the gaps
  • To know where to get more help

SPACE - Ranger Stu's Animal Encounter

Tuesday 13th July 5 - 6.30pmRanger Stu Animal Encounter

SPACE Hertfordshire are pleased to host this fun and interactive animal meet and greet session with Ranger Stu. The children meet and interact with various animals from birds, invertebrates, reptiles and mammals.
